Pada soal nomor 2, kita perlu mengetahui pola banyak segitiga setiap sukunya. Polanya adalah: Un = n(n + 1)/2. Pola ke-8 adalah 8(8 + 1)/2 = 36 segitiga. Satu segitiga terdiri dari 3 batang korek api, sehingga banyak batang korek api yang diperlukan untuk membuat pola ke-8 adalah 36 × 3 = 108 batang korek api.Pada soal nomor 3, kita perhatikan urutan pola urutan yang ganjil untuk mendapatkan nilai pola urutan genap. Pola pertama bernilai 4, ketiga bernilai 8, dan seterusnya (pola urutan genap merupakan plus 5 pada pola ganjil terkecuali pola 2), sehingga untuk mendapatkan pola ke-30 kita harus mengetahui pola ke-29 terlebih dahulu. Pola ke-29 adalah 4(n + 1)/2 = 4(30)/2 = 60, maka pola ke-30 adalah 60 + 5 = 65 bola.
